Ideas For Getting Parties
You may have a ton of great inventory. You may have the coolest displays. But you have nothing without bookings or sales. How do you get your name and information out so they know who to call?
1. You need to let everyone within 5 feet know what you do. That is called the “Five Feet Rule.” The mailman (or woman), your nail girl, your hairdresser, your bank teller, your doctor, your doctor’s receptionist, the grocery store clerk, the UPS guy (or girl) the meter reader guy, the PTA moms (They love Paparazzi), your church friends, your neighbors, of course your friends and relatives, old friends, your co-workers, your past co-workers, your old high school friends, you get the idea!!!
2. When performing every day activities you need to spread the word! If you buy a lipstick at the MAC counter and Macy’s, you should had the clerk your charge card and a business card. When you are done dining at a restaurant you should leave the waitress and the hostess you business card. Don’t be afraid to tell them what you do!
3. The “Hello My Name Is” gig. Buy a pack of name tags and put them in your purse. Write your name on a name tag and hit the mall. People will say “Hey “insert your name here” you still have your name tag on”. You say “Oh I forgot to take this off from my Paparazzi Party”! Then they will, of course, ask what Paparazzi is….and off you go to book that party!! Do this for as long as you can at the mall…This really works!
4. You can also walk up to complete strangers and tell them they look familiar. The ole “Do I know you?”. Tell them you saw them at Lisa’s Party. (Even though you did not) This opens up the door to talking and then you tell her what you do. Works like a charm!!
5. Hair salons are on of the best places to get parties. Hair dressers love our parties and they see tons and tons of women all day long! Network at a hair salon. Ask to display in their salon and make them an offer for a %.
6. Leave your business cards anywhere they will let you. Sometimes your local gym will let you leave a stack of cards. Or you can just ask the manager of a place you frequent. Pass out 10 a day. You can leave them on bathroom sinks in nice restaurants. You can also leave them on the bar at restaurants and bars. Sometimes I approach tables of all girls have a drink and will give them all a card. The obviously can get 6 girls to go out for a drink, so they would have no trouble putting together a party!
7. Free flyers. Bagel stores, grocery stores, community bulletin boards etc. are all good places to leave a free flyer. Put up a tasteful flyer on nice colored paper and let it work for you. Free ads. (my favorite kind!) Some publications actually have free ads you can place…check into it.
8. Trade shows. You can get a booth at your local mall when they have events. Call your favorite mall and ask them when and how much. Lots of sales and wonderful opportunity for recruiting.
9. Bridal shows. Again, you can get a booth. You can split the cost with team members. This works great so you can rotate times you are working and it cuts down on the investment. Google™ it!
10. Mail your business cars with the monthly utility bills. Swap a party with another company’s consultant. Offer to host a Pampered Chef party (for example) in return for her doing a party for you. Trust me those girls are dying to do parties just like you.
